Innovation Challenge – What’s going on with Flylight?
The end of 2011 Rutger Koning and Lars Backker from Flylight decided to participate in the Innovation Challenge. During the Innovation Challenge they developed a business plan concerning one of their new products. With this plan and product they hope to increase productivity. The product is easy to use and hassle-free. After winning the challenge the boys from Flylight received a combination of coaching hours from several experts.
August 2012, a half year later. Perfect timing to see how business is going. A short conversation with Rutger, one of the 2 entrepreneurs.
How did you know of the Innovation Challenge?
Rutger: last year we went to a seminar called Breaking Out. There we met another entrepreneur. He told us about this event.
What did you think of the event?
Rutger: it was nice to participate. Most of questions were things we thought about in the past. It’s good to talk it over. There were several interesting experts which we still talk to.
After winning the Innovation Challenge you received a coaching track. Can you tell something about it?
Rutger: the questions which were formulated were very divers. Most important was the validation of the research. We were brought into contact with TNO for that. Furthermore were important subjects to us finance, marketing and business planning.
How is everything going since the challenge?
Rutger: excellent. We won several challenges. At this moment we have our own office where we work on a prototype with 5 students.
